The Fertile Crescent. Located around in the Middle east.( know now as Iraq today)
The first civilization was located in the Middle East around the tigris and the Euphrates rivers.

They would have fertile soil, seasonal rains, rivers and streams, and natural resources nearby.
The fertile land, could grow crops, lots of wildlife to eat, fresh drinking water, and good weather drew people to this area.
Invaders,violent floods,and invasion caused people to leave the area and move somewhere else.
The topography was flat and this made interaction between this civilization and others easy. Trading by land and by boat made it easier.
The civilization changed their environment to suit their needs by building irrigation systems to water their crops.
They used technological developments such as sailboats, wheel chariots, and cuneiform. These made things easier. They used ox drawn plows and they used tools to dig. This development allowed them to change their environment.
People interacted with other civilizations by fighting with them for resources. They also traded with other civilizations.
To move goods and people they used wheel carts that helped them move over land. They had sails on their boats to move at sea and on the river. They used a potter's wheel to make bowls to store food and water. They discovered bronze to make metal tools and weapons which was better than stone. They invented writing to keep track of goods bought and sold. These technology thing were necessary for this to happen.
