Agriculture and Trade
Trade was carried by ships, wagons and by foot. Some of things that were traded were food, wine, drinks, jewelry, timber, pottery and clothing. People traded goods for things they needed and gave other people things they did not need.
Agriculture was a lot like farming. Some crops they planted were wheat, barley, dates, cucumber, onions, apples, and spices. Animals they raised and domesticated were sheep to make wool for blankets and clothes, cows to milk and for leather or for meat as food, chickens to lay eggs and for meat, and last pigs were used for meat. These crop needed to last the families. If families ran out of food in the summer they had to starve the whole winter. If people had a surplus that meant that they had more food than they needed. Agriculture was very important in that time. It helped people basically eat food.
